Love Language #3

Receiving gifts is a language of love. According to Gary Chapman, author of The 5 Love Languages, there are five ways to show love. He explains how understanding people's love language is the way to find, and keep love that lasts. Not only romantic love, but love in all forms ranging from friendship to family bonds. Everyone has a love language, and sometimes it can be a combination of one or two different types, and you can even feel love one way, and give it another. However, if you are not acknowledging someone's personal love language, the person you are trying to love may not feel your love at all. Your actions becomes like a foreign language, and efforts to connect and grow together in love dissipate.

The five love languages are:

Words of Affirmation

Quality Time

Receiving Gifts

Acts of Service

Physical Touch

With gift giving being one of my primary ways to show love, I believe I've naturally gravitated towards opening my own little gift giving business, Sent With My Love . Here, we focus on the third love of language, receiving gifts. A gift is a tangible item that says, "Oh! He was thinking of me!" or "She remembered me!". You are thinking of someone when you buy them a gift, and that energy is considered an expression of love, and a symbol of thought.

The cost of the gift has no relevance to the good feelings associated with it. As the saying goes, "its really the thought behind it that counts".
